Passport to Earning (P2E)

Free Digital Skills. Real Earning Opportunities.

Passport to Earning (P2E) is a UNICEF Nigeria flagship initiative under Generation Unlimited 9JA that equips young Nigerians with the digital, productivity and 21st-century skills needed to thrive in today’s economy. In Katsina State, the programme is being delivered by Ideas and Data Global Academy (IDGA) in partnership with UNICEF, NMEC and the Nigeria Learning Passport.

The Passport to Earning Programme is designed to bridge the digital skills gap among Nigerian youth and translate that learning into real income-generating opportunities. Through free, self-paced courses on the Nigeria Learning Passport, beneficiaries gain access to globally recognised digital literacy and Generative AI training — at no cost.

In its 2026 cycle, the programme is targeting 100,000 young Nigerians across multiple states, with a deliberate focus on:

  • Adolescent girls and young women
  • Persons with disabilities (PWDs)
  • Out-of-school youth

A core innovation of the 2026 cycle is the livelihood pathway: at least 10% of all beneficiaries will be supported beyond skills acquisition into structured income-generating activities.

The P2E learning pathway is structured around four flagship courses, all free on the Nigeria Learning Passport:

1. Digital Literacy Master the foundations of working with computers, the internet, productivity tools, and online communication.

2. Generative AI — Foundation Understand what Generative AI is, how it works, and how to use it responsibly in everyday life and work.

3. Generative AI — Intermediate Learn practical applications of AI tools for writing, design, productivity, and problem-solving.

4. Generative AI — Master Build advanced skills in prompt engineering, AI-assisted workflows, and using AI to create marketable products and services.

Every course comes with a digital certificate upon completion, recognised by the Federal Ministry of Education, UNICEF and partner institutions.

In Katsina State, IDGA is implementing the P2E programme across 15 Local Government Areas:

Katsina · Sandamu · Malumfashi · Daura · Funtua · Batagarawa · Mani · Kaita · Jibia · Rimi · Bakori · Matazu · Dutsin-Ma · Baure · Charanchi

Through a network of trained master trainers and partner schools, IDGA aims to reach 15,000 young people in this implementation milestone, with 1,500 channelled into structured livelihood opportunities.

P2E is open to:

  • Young women and adolescent girls seeking to build digital and entrepreneurial skills
  • Out-of-school youth who want a second chance at learning relevant, marketable skills
  • Persons with disabilities ready to access inclusive digital opportunities
  • Secondary school students in participating schools across the 15 LGAs
  • Community members interested in upskilling for the digital economy
